Christian Health Care Center: Clothing for Care campaign

Christian Health Care Center, Whatcom County’s only nonprofit skilled nursing center, needed to fill an urgent gap: emergency clothing for residents who had no loved ones nearby to provide essentials. BPRC was brought in to design and promote a short-term, high-impact community giving campaign—Clothing for Care.

Overview

Short-term, high-impact community project

Working alongside CHCC leaders, BPRC developed and executed a clear plan that aligned with the center’s needs and values. That included identifying appropriate clothing items, creating a two-week campaign timeline and setting up an Amazon Wish List to make donating quick and easy.

Because donated clothing needed to be suitable for elderly, medically fragile individuals—and washable in commercial laundry systems—careful curation was key. BPRC helped guide this process, then built public-facing messaging around those requirements.

Testimonial

“I had the excitement of gifting a pair of slippers to a resident who had no shoes, the smile on her face and how excited she got was incredibly sweet! What a gift to these residents!”

Strategic planning and executive support

To bring the campaign to life, BPRC produced inspiring materials: developing a campaign name, flyers for local display, shareable social media graphics and messaging, and a press release for local media. Meta ads helped extend reach beyond CHCC’s existing audience.

Throughout the campaign, BPRC monitored progress, answered public questions and kept the message focused and clear—especially the need to donate only pre-selected items.

Provide comfort and care: Donate to CHCC’s Clothing for Care event

Imagine arriving at a skilled nursing center with only the clothes you’re wearing. For some residents at Christian Health Care Center, this is their reality. Some join our community with little to no clothing, and without family or loved ones to provide for them.

It is not only new residents who need clothing items. “Sometimes, residents gain or lose weight and their clothes no longer fit,” said Jenaye Phillips, director of social services at CHCC.”

Letter to the editor

“It’s moments like these that remind us why Lynden and other communities in Whatcom County are such special places. When needs arise, people step forward. They give without being asked twice.”

Tonja Myers, CHCC executive director, in a letter to the editor of the Lynden Tribune.

A meaningful success

Results exceed expectations

In just two weeks, 262 clothing items—valued at more than $2,300—were donated, overflowing CHCC’s new emergency clothing closet with much-needed items.

This feel-good campaign struck a chord with the community. CHCC staff and residents felt supported, seen and deeply loved by the people around them.
